Our all time favorite video from our children’s toddler years is of our daughter and her friend getting down to a bluegrass band at the Great Peter Pumpkin Patch. It is a display of pure oneness with the music unencumbered by inhibitions. It makes me grin everytime I see it and it gets me in the mood for our annual family outing to the Pumpkin patch!
Even with COVID-19, there is an abundance of pumpkin patch options for families in the SF Bay Area. Sonoma County is my favorite place to go get pumpkins, gourds, and autumnal treats. We have organized the best options into three areas; Petaluma, Santa Rosa, and Russian River. Just pick a patch and add the bonus activity to make it into a full family adventure.
All pumpkin patches in this article received approval from the Sonoma County Health Department in order to operate this year, and they will all be following COVID-19 precautions. There will not be any bouncy houses, giant slides, or corn pits like in the past, but there are plenty of mazes, pyramids, animals for viewing, and other activities available. Most farms are not requiring reservations but a few do to increase safety.
